Angle-wing katydid, California

A monarch wing caught on two taught strands of a spiderweb; the slightest air movement made it twirl like a pinwheel. The wing had been nipped off by a mantis - monarchs are distasteful to most predators, but not all. Shot at night from above, with the bricks of my porch below.
