About Me
I grew up in Montana in the 1960s and 70s and spent a lot of unsupervised time outdoors, chasing and sometimes catching insects and spiders and lizards and snakes and frogs. Eventually, I wanted to take pictures of the creatures I found, so an artist friend of my parents named Glenn Smith suggested I start with a used SLR camera. To take macro images, he said I could simply tape a magnifying glass to the front of the lens.
It worked. I still have that magnifying glass, but since then my equipment has improved (or at least it's gotten more expensive), and in recent years I've been extremely lucky to have had a chance to venture far from home to see some beautiful places around the world. But that said, I take a lot of photos in my small suburban yard. The truth is, you don't have to travel very far to see very much... you just need to slow down and look.
